COURTYARD
Erskineville
Whilst this garden is not large, the client loves to entertain here! Vibrant colour plantings extend the style of the interior of the house to outside, and give the garden courtyard a lush tropical feel.
The brief included a variety of low maintenance plantings and to increase the functionality of the site for dining and entertaining.
The Design included a wooden slatted sliding door which was installed on the back wall to close off a work space behind it. With the courtyard very hot in summer and the water feature already in place, the tropical planting theme compliments the client’s love of bright colours and her bubbly personality.
Crepe Myrtle ‘Tuscarora’ (Lagerstroemia indica 'Tuscarora' ) Was planted at the back of the garden to offer beautiful magenta flowers for a long period in summer, and some height for shade. Aged pots with Bougainvillea, Yucca and Jade help to balance the garden, whilst Gardenias, Dracaenas and bright yellow/orange/red Crotons and purple dwarf Liriope give it a lush, tropical feel. Hanging baskets with ferns were used to block neighbouring ugly walls. This garden is bright and inviting all year round, an outdoor room to compliment the house.
"I wanted an oasis for my husband and I to use the space for relaxation and entertaining. We now use our backyard space regularly. Karen is professional, she listens to you and she will design a garden with you in mind" Diane, Erskineville.
